How much do you remember paying for an ice cream cone?
Back in the early 1950's the stores
were open on Sat night. So Dad, Mom, and
I would go to town do the shopping for
food and other things. We could buy ice cream
cones at a drug store costing 10c to a quarter
for a large cone. I always got a quarter to spend
from Dad so that is where it went.

What childhood fear do you remember?
As a 5 year old we had a grove
of trees on our place and I would shine
the flashlight into the trees at night because
I was afraid of a boogey man.

Did you ever write something that you were really proud of?
At about the age of
16 or 17 I had to be the leader for
the program in our church youth group
called "Christian Endeavor." I wrote the topic
out and presented it at CE on Sunday
night CE. That was as close as I
got to being a preacher. There
were approx 30 teenagers there to hear it and
many said I should become a minister but I
ended on the farm.

If you could return to your childhood, what would you do differently?
I wouldn't say
I wanted to but I sometimes wonder
how my life would have been if I
had been brought up by a different
set of parents and brothers.

Once you get past my charm,
great looks, super intelligence and my
sense of humor, I think its my
modesty that stands out above them all

If your family went to Easter Sunrise services, tell about it.
We as a family didn't go to Easter Sunrise
services, we always had chorse to do at home.
I do remember going as a group from church
held in NWC auditorium, which is now the
arts center, the auditorium would be packed with
teens from a 30 mile radius. I remember
Ardean (gramma) picking me up and going together,
one of our first dates.

Tell about an Easter Egg hunt.
I was never involved in an Easter egg hunt.
To respond to the sentence on the top of this page;
Easter is one of the most important events in a
Christians' life. The day our Lord and Savior Jesus Chrust
rose from the grave. He died on the cross so we
could have eternal life to live with Him forever
in His glory. Our Lord Jesus nos is in heaven
interceding for us before the Father and will come again
to take His children home to heaven. Praise the Lord
I'm ready for His coming again.

Share a memory about a church social activity.
I remember the CE had a box
social. The girls would bring a box with
food so the boys would buy a box and
whoever box it was had lunch with that
person (girl). I bought a box but the
food and the girl who made it was
a disastrous ending.

Share a memory of going to church as you were growing up.
I always enjoyed going to church.
It would be my mom, dad and me. I sat
next to my dad and he would sing bass
to the hymns sung. I learned how to sing
bass and read notes by listening to my
dad sing. We had a morning and afternoon service.
The evening was a service called CE "Christian
Endeavor." All high schoolers and older would come.
We would have to lead the topic, do special music
and pray. Rev. Colenbrander was always there
to keep order and give sound advice. He convinced
many young people enter the ministry.

I remember my dad
planting corn with a 2
row planter pulled by 2
horses. When I would get
home from school the next day I would
see how much he accomplished that day
So I would do the chores on those days so he could

I always loved to sing. When I
exited HS I could read notes
and sing all 4 parts. I also loved to

Did you ever make a kite? How? Tell about your kite-flying experiences.
I was quite young, 7 years old
when I bought a kite with a large
spool of tread. I would run to get it
to go up in the air. But the thing
would come right down again when I
stopped running. I finally got so tired
I quit running and never used it
again.
